Rick Fowler ~ Facebook Report:   This is in New Mexico near where my family lives, these arrests were made because of a vehicle hitting an elk, how many more around our country go unnoticed? Thank you Catron county Catron Sheriff

Catron County Sheriff

Today started out with a early morning call of a crash involving a vehicle vs elk. Once CCSO Deputies arrived it was learned that the vehicle was occupied by 6 Illegal Aliens.

Shortly after the arrival of law enforcement, a second vehicle arrived on scene. In the vehicle was a man and woman who were there to pick up the subjects involved in the crash.

Ironically these same two were arrested earlier this week on federal smuggling charges. Everyone involved was turned over to US Border Patrol and both vehicles seized

Shortly after this incident two other suspicious vehicles were seen traveling together on Hwy 180 and another two behind them also traveling together. Both sets of vehicles then turned towards Reserve.

US Border Patrol agents were still in the area and stopped the first two vehicles and CCSO conducted a traffic stop on the second two. This resulted in the apprehension of 27 more IAs and two vehicles seized.

Immediately following this incident two more vehicles traveling close together were seen traveling towards Reserve.

CCSO conducted traffic stops on both vehicles, which resulted in the apprehension of a combined number of 14 IAs and another two vehicles seized.

Thanks to USBP and NM Game and Fish for their assistance
