In light with all the disrespect that we in law enforcement face daily I feel blessed that my career path has brought me to a place such as Catron County.
A few months ago I set out in the middle of nowhere on 603 north of Pie Town with a stolen car. After taking the car thief into custody I set there for some time with my emergency lights on waiting on a deputy to come assist me. During this time I had two ranchers who took the time just to come check and make sure I was ok. It was plain to see by the guns in their front seat that they were not just being nosey, but were actually there to help a lone law enforcement officer if help was needed.
Words can not express what this actually meant to me. Since taking office I have not had a day go by that someone doesn’t stop me or call the office thanking us for what the sheriffs is doing. Again to have someone take time out of their busy schedule to do this means more than words can express. We see all the time about backing the blue but you good people of this county take it to another level. You actually go out of your way to do it.
I just want to say on behalf of myself and my deputies and dispatchers thank you Catron County for your support. We have taken on the task of providing you with the Sheriff’s Office that you have made it clear that you yearned for and deserve. I ask to bare with us during our time or change and we will become a shining star that you can have faith in and brings you pride.
It’s our turn for the blue (or tan in our case) to back you
